Please add your voice to the conversation about MenInECE
For many years I have been advocating for an increase in the number of men working in Early Childhood Education, but many of my words seem to meet resistance and an assumption that we should favour men over women, or have quotas for employment in the education sector. I continually get told that employment as a teacher is merit-based and the focus is on high quality teachers. I couldn't agree more... our children deserve the best teachers in their early years! But what if we are missing some of the best teachers simply because they don't see ECE as a place for them, or are socialised into gender stereotypes and told that men do not belong here? In my many conversations with educators, families and community members, I often get told that men are needed in education, and hear anecdotes of some of the brilliant male educators these people have been lucky enough to meet or have educate their children. These are the stories and experiences I now want to capture with this Community Survey. Please share your stories and pass the link onto others. Thanks, Marty M-B
